New Harriers Advisory Committee - we welcome expressions of interest.

The board of Aspirations Academies Trust have agreed changes to its governance arrangements for each academy within the trust, including Harriers Banbury Academy.  Under the new arrangements, the Local Advisory Board (LAB) will cease to exist, with all governance responsibility moving to a new South Central Regional Board.  The Regional Board in this area will be made up of parents/carers, community representatives, trust board members, our Regional CEO, key central team staff and local academy principals.  In this region, the Regional Board will take on all governance responsibility for Dashwood, Harriers, Wykham Park and Futures Institute.  Information on our new governance arrangements will be available on our website in due course.

We believe an external voice on the decisions we make for our pupils and community is vitally important; it provides us with a different perspective and, as a result, improves the way we run our schools.  To maintain the important local voice we have had from our current LAB arrangements, we are looking to form, in place of the LAB, the Harriers Advisory Committee.  This new committee will discuss and advise on school related issues, informing the decision-making process within the school and helping guide the school into the future.  While the new committee will have no governance responsibilities, it will be a formal body with registered members and minuted meetings.

The Aspirations Trust Board has set the end of this academic year as the proposed date by which the new arrangements would come into effect.  However, it was decided at the last Harriers LAB meeting to dissolve the current LAB with immediate effect and set up the Harriers Advisory Committee to include new members at the earliest opportunity.

We are therefore looking for members of our community (e.g. parents, staff, local residents and business owners and employees) to join our Harriers Advisory Committee.  You will need only to commit to five meetings a year, once each half-term on a Tuesday, 9-11am, and to agree to the school’s code of conduct.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the new committee, please complete the application form below and return it to the school office by Friday 8th November 2019.  Please arrange to speak to Mrs Agate if you have any questions or would like further information.
