Trips and WOW Days

We like to start and finish our topics with a bang in Early Years. Therefore we make sure the start of each term begins with a day full of exciting activities to immerse our children into their new learning- WOW Days. Here are some examples:

Medieval Day- we ended our topic of Castles, Knights and Princesses with a medieval banquet. All children were invited to dress up in medieval costumes and come to school to enjoy a day of medieval activities as well as taste traditional food.

Dinosaur Day- We started our topic of Dinosaurs and Prehistoric Lands by following dinosaur footprints into school. We had to go through a giant dinosaur mouth to enter our classroom and then went on a hunt around forest school to find the hidden dino eggs which we have been watching hatch.

We plan our trips and visits around the learning taking place in the classroom and use the local community as much as possible when doing this. We have enjoyed a visit from Zoolab, a local company who bring exotic creatures into school, we liked touching all the creepy crawlies!

We have been on trips to Banbury Fire Station when we were learning all about people who help us and have visited a local farm during springtime to visit new born animals and observe new life.
