Making our own rock types with chocolate in Year 3!
Year 3 classes have been having great fun whilst learning about the three different rock types.
The children squeezed melted chocolate out as if it was molten rock in a volcano and let it cool and go hard like igneous rock.
They used grated white and dark chocolate to make ‘sediment’ and layered it on top of each other and then used pressure to form sedimentary rock.
Finally, they put the igneous and sedimentary rock together and used pressure and heat to squeeze it together to form metamorphic rock.
