Children’s Mental Health Week
This week has been Place2Be’s Children’s Mental Health Week with the theme of ‘Growing Together’. In school, we explored this in more detail – the children were encouraged to consider how they have grown in terms of their mental health, and how they can help others to grow. We also discussed the importance of learning from mistakes and challenging ourselves.
As part of the week, we held a non-uniform day with the theme of ‘express yourself’. Donations of £1 will go to Place2Be. Children came to school wearing their own clothes on this day – they could choose their favourite outfit, clothes in their favourite colour or simply an outfit that makes them smile! Just being their wonderful selves!
If you would like some more useful suggestions for supporting your child with their mental health at home, the Place2Be Parenting Smart website has some fantastic advice and practical tips from child mental health experts.
All classes received a copy of ‘After the Fall’. This is the story of Humpty Dumpty after he falls off the wall and how he faces his fears and climbs it again. Children completed work for a display using this picture book as a starting point to promote discussions in classes.
